February 26, 2012 (Sunday) The Worcester Model Railroaders, Inc., one of the oldest Model Railroad Clubs on the East Coast, is holding its annual show and sale at the Auburn Elks, 754 Southbridge St, (Route12), Auburn, MA on February 26, 2012 from 10AM to 3:30 PM. The Amherst Modular Club will have one of their layouts on display. Admission $5, children under 12, (with adult) free.
An open house at our new club quarters will be held on the same day from 10 AM to 3 PM. at the Stevens Linen Complex, 137 Schofield Ave, (Route 12) Dudley, MA. Our 43’x 51’ HO scale operating layout depicts the Boston & Albany line from Boston to Springfield with a branch line into Rhode Island and Connecticut. Visitors will be able to observe club members operating steam and diesel trains and operate a train themselves. Handicapped accessible. Admission/donation $2, children under 12 (with adult), free. November 19, 2011–January 16, 2012 New York, New York Enid
A. Haupt Conservatory. The holiday season is full of family traditions, and the
Holiday Train Show is one of the most eagerly awaited. Wrapped in the glow of
twinkling lights, model trains and trolleys zip along over bridges and on
winding tracks past scaled replicas of New York landmarks made by award-winning
designer Paul Busse. Orange slices, cinnamon sticks, poppy pods, pine cones, and
other plant parts are used to create the more than 140 architectural
reproductions in the Garden’s collection.
Highlights: Stars of the show: Steam engines and streetcars,
whimsical ladybugs and modern freight trains traverse under waterfalls, around
mountains, and through tunnels.
Annual favorites: Empire State Building, Little Red Lighthouse,
Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and more return to thrill visitors of all
ages.
This year visitors will get an insider’s look at how the replicas
are constructed. Models in different stages of completion will show how a
structure destined for the Holiday Train Show is framed and begins taking shape
through the addition of plant material. Photos, interpretive panels, tools, and
supplies help tell the story of how the magic comes together.
